The End of History is a theory started in the nineteenth century by Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and later resumed in the last quarter of the twentieth century, the crisis in the context of historiography and social sciences in general.
This theory holds, as the name suggests, the end of the historical processes characterized as processes of change. For Hegel this would happen when mankind to reach equilibrium, represented, according to him, the rise of liberalism and legal equality, but for an indefinite period to occur.
Resuming at the end of the twentieth century, this theory has already acquired the character of situation occurred because, according to its thinkers, history ended in the episode of the fall of the Berlin Wall. At that time, antagonisms have ended because, since then, there is only one power - the United States of America - and thus a full stability.
The idea resurfaced in an article published in late 1989 with the title "The End of History" [1] and, later, in 1992, with the book "The End of History and the Last Man,  both of the U.S. Francis Fukuyama.
Fukuyama has developed a line of approach to history, from Plato to Nietzsche, through Kant and Hegel's own in order to strengthen the theory that capitalism and bourgeois democracy are the culmination of human history. In his view, after the destruction of fascism and socialism, humanity, at the time, would have reached the pinnacle of its evolution through the triumph of Western liberal democracy over all other competing ideologies and systems. In liberal capitalist opposition to the proposal, there were only traces of nationalism (with no possibility of a project to signify humanity) and Islamic fundamentalism (restricted to the peripheral countries and the East). Thus, before the collapse of socialism, the author concludes that Western liberal democracy has established itself as the final solution of human government, meaning, in this sense, the "end of history" of humanity.
